Maureen Schoonbaert, a native of south-western Manitoba, is a classically trained (Royal Conservatory) pianist.  Maureen's genetic background contains a lot of 'musical talent', however she is the only musician in her immediate family.   Her 20+ years of musical training have included  instructors such as the late Geraldine Kroeker (college of RCM Examiners), Rob Richardson (Professor Brandon University), Craig Wingrove (National Ballet of Canada Pianist).

During her high-school years, Maureen was an avid participant in the Glee Club, Music Recitals, Church Choir, School Musicals, Concert Band and the local music festivals.  In 1986 a 'dream came true' when Maureen was awarded the coveted "Rose Bowl" along with post-secondary scholarships and bursaries.  A second major goal was achieved when she attended the Brandon University School of Music  where she majored in piano and minored in flute and vocal studies.  Collectively, she has taught  music lessons for 20+ years; 4 years in Manitoba and 20 years in Bolton.

Teaching has been a large part of Maureen's adult life as she has also had a career as a bookkeeper & administrative consultant; which is what brought her to Ontario.  In that role she has coached and mentored people in cities across Canada and the U.S.  Over the past few years she has slowly downsized her bookkeeping & consulting business as she has realized her true calling is to share the gift of music with the students she teaches.

In volunteer roles, she represents the Bolton Centre for the Royal Conservatory of Music and is a member of the Caledon Concert Band Association where she plays Flute.  She is also on the executive board of directors as their Treasurer.  www.caledonconcertband.com.    She has one daughter, Jade, age 27.
